State Trooper Gregory Vrooman, 45, of Nobleboro, indicted on charges of unlawful sexual contact, unlawful sexual touching, assault and tampering with a witness, has filed for a change of venue.
If the motion is granted, Vrooman’s trial will be moved to a court in another area, where, his attorney argues, the jury will be less likely to be prejudiced against Vrooman.
The case has received a lot of pretrial publicity, which combined with the fact that Vrooman “patrolled this area for many, many, many years,” is likely to make it difficult to find an impartial jury, Vrooman’s attorney, Michael Turndorf, said.
