A car stolen from Rockland last week was found in Waldoboro April 13 as law enforcement were investigating an unrelated matter on Old County Road, according to Waldoboro Police
Chief Bill Labombarde.

The vehicle, a red four-door Kia, was found with all windows smashed slashed the tires and seats, and keyed the exterior paint, according to Patrol Officer Jeff
Fuller.
Someone had also put dirt into the various fluid reservoirs in the vehicle, including the engine oil, power-steering fluid, and brake fluid, Fuller said.
“They were pretty thorough to the damage,” he said.
The car had been stolen from Rockland on April 7, according to Rockland Deputy Chief of Police Wally Tower.
The owner, Devin Deabler, “woke up, looked outside and the car was gone. The keys were left in the ignition,” Tower said.
Fuller said Deabler was not aware of anyone he had problems with that would have taken and damaged the vehicle, and was “very unhappy” to hear of the damage.
A source said the vehicle had been on Old County Road for the better part of a week when it was found, Fuller said.
The stolen vehicle ties in with a Waldoboro case where license plates were stolen from a car on Orff’s Corner Road on April 9, Labombarde said.
The two cases were not known to be connected until that vehicle’s owner found the discarded plates from the stolen Kia in his bushes, Labombarde said.
The department put out a message to be on the lookout for the stolen vehicle and the stolen plates, but Marine Patrol Officer Matthew Merriman found the vehicle on Old
County Road while helping the Waldoboro Police Department on a different matter, according to Labombarde.
The department is currently investigating and following up on leads in the case, Labombarde said.
