State Police have released a new photo of a $40,000 tractor stolen from Union Farm Equipment on Rt. 17 in Union on March 19. The surveillance photo from a nearby gasoline station shows the tractor on the back of a red ramp truck along Rt. 17, as it passed the station.
The 2011 Kubota model L45, with a bucket loader on the front and a backhoe on the rear, was stolen about 2 a.m. by a lone male who jumped the fence, started the tractor and then used the tractor’s bucket to ram through the front gate where it was then driven into the ramp truck.
A motorist on Rt. 17 later reported seeing the ramp truck with the tractor on it driving toward Augusta about 2:20 a.m.
The theft was discovered when workers arrived at the dealership later that morning. Anyone with information of the theft or the location of the tractor is asked to call State Police in Augusta at 800-452-4664.
