Area firefighters responded to the scene of a significant structure fire at a private residence on Indian Hill Road in Boothbay Harbor this afternoon. According to an LCN correspondent on the scene, Steve Edwards, firefighters attacked the fire from outside of the building after their arrival shortly before 2:30 p.m.
“It’s quite a mess,” Edwards said. “The whole place is gone.”
Edwards said he observed massive amounts of smoke and intense heat as crews battled the blaze in a heavily wooded area of the town known as Sawyers Island.
Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, Wiscasset, Southport, Edgecomb and Newcastle all responded to the scene. Other area fire departments supported with station coverage.
