A 24-year-old Waldoboro woman was taken by ambulance to LincolnHealth’s Miles Campus with non-life-threatening injuries after a rollover at the corner of Main Street and School Street in Damariscotta the morning of Thursday, Oct. 13.
A toddler who was in the back seat of the vehicle was not hurt, according to Damariscotta Police Officer Kyle Sylvester. “She was safe and secure in her car seat,” he said.
Jordan A. Romero, 24, of Waldoboro, was driving a Subaru west – toward downtown – on Main Street when, possibly due to a “medical episode,” the vehicle went onto the soft shoulder, according to Sylvester.
Sylvester, citing a witness’s account of the accident, said Romero tried to correct but was not able to. The vehicle struck a guardrail and flipped over.
Romero was wearing a seat belt. Further information about the extent or nature of her injuries was not available.
The vehicle appeared heavily damaged. The guardrail was also damaged.
The Central Lincoln County Ambulance Service, the Damariscotta Fire Department, and the Damariscotta Police Department responded to the scene.
Lincoln County Communications dispatched emergency personnel to the accident at 9:46 a.m.
