Sullivan Tire plans to move into Yudy’s, the Damariscotta auto repair and tire center, in the coming weeks, a Sullivan Tire representative confirmed today.
Roy Donlon, of the Sullivan Tire real estate office, said the company would lease the Yudy’s building and property and purchase Yudy’s equipment. He said the companies would complete the transaction in the next two weeks.
Donlon described the transaction as an “asset purchase” and compared it to Sullivan Tire’s takeover of a Yudy’s in Portsmouth, N.H. some years ago.
Donlon referred further questions to another employee, who did not immediately return a message.
A Yudy’s employee referred press inquiries to owner Robert Davis, who did not return a message.
Headquartered in Norwell, Mass., Sullivan Tire operates 59 retail locations and 15 commercial truck tire centers throughout Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.
“Sullivan Tire is a locally-owned, family business started by Robert J. Sullivan in 1955,” according to a company press release.
