Damariscotta hopes to convince the Maine Department of Labor to waive $2,800 in fines after a surprise inspection uncovered violations.
The inspector identified violations at the highway department and the police department, Damariscotta Town Manager Matt Lutkus said.
Almost all of the violations are the result of inadequate documentation of training, Lutkus told the Damariscotta Board of Selectmen April 16. Further details about the violations were not immediately available.
The inspector imposed four $700 fines for a total of $2,800.
Damariscotta Town Manager Matt Lutkus said the town has begun to work with its labor consultant to rectify the issues and will ask the state to waive the fines.
