Police have charged a Lewiston man with murder in connection with the disappearance of a former Bremen woman missing since July.
Working with the Attorney General’s Office, State and Lewiston Police arrested Buddy Robinson, 30, at his girlfriend’s home on Gloucester Road in New Gloucester around 11:30 p.m. Oct. 13.
Christiana Fesmire, 22, of Lewiston, has been missing since July 1. Her body has not been recovered.
Police say Robinson and Fesmire were both residents of a two-unit apartment house on Highland Avenue in Lewiston. Police searched the apartment house in September. Evidence found at the scene led investigators to conclude Fesmire was killed inside the building.
Police believe her body was then transported elsewhere.
In August, Fesmire’s mother, Deborah Fesmire, told The Lincoln County News that she and Fesmire’s father, Chester Fesmire, last saw their daughter in June when she spent two nights at the family’s home in Bremen. Chester Fesmire drove Christiana back to Lewiston during the early afternoon, June 30.
Friends last saw Fesmire on July 1, her mother said. Fesmire had left the Highland Avenue duplex and was living with friends – a married couple and their two children – at their Brown Street residence in Lewiston for a month and a half prior to her disappearance.
Deborah Fesmire said the husband was at work and the wife was at a store when Fesmire is thought to have gone missing. The police were not immediately notified because, according to Deborah Fesmire, her daughter’s friends believed she was on her way to a July 4 family reunion in Rangeley.
Her disappearance was reported when a family member who was supposed to bring Fesmire to the family reunion was unable to pick her up and could not reach her by phone.
