Two local teens face multiple charges related to a single-vehicle rollover that injured all three of the vehicle’s occupants on St. Patrick’s Day in Nobleboro.
Cody Beaucage, 19, of Jefferson, was recently charged with operating under the influence, driving to endanger, operating after suspension, and possession of liquor by a minor, and a 17-year-old juvenile from Nobleboro was charged with possession of liquor by a minor and theft for allegedly stealing the alcohol, according to Lincoln County Sheriff’s Lt. Rand Maker.
Beaucage was the operator of a 2007 Chevrolet pickup that rolled over near the northern intersection of Upper East Pond Road with East Pond Road in Nobleboro on March 17, St. Patrick’s Day.
Emergency crews were paged out to the accident at 11:48 a.m.
Beaucage and the juvenile were trapped inside the vehicle for about an hour while firefighters from Nobleboro and Jefferson worked to extricate them, according to the LCSO. An excavator was used to lift the vehicle as part of the effort.
All three occupants were injured in the accident: Beaucage and the juvenile were treated for broken bones and internal injuries, and passenger Kenneth Snyder, 19, of Jefferson, complained of pain in his shoulder and arm, according to the release.
Both passengers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash but Beaucage was not, according to the release.
The initial investigation determined Beaucage was headed south on East Pond Road when he lost control while negotiating a curve. The vehicle fishtailed, entered the southbound ditch, and struck several large granite blocks before rolling over and coming to rest on its roof, according to the release.
Beaucage has a court date of Wednesday, August 27 and the juvenile on Tuesday, July 29, according to Maker.
An earlier version of this story contained incorrect information about which individuals were trapped in the vehicle, and has been corrected using updated information from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
