A three-vehicle accident at the junction of Route 1 and Route 235 in Waldoboro sent two people to an area hospital the evening of Wednesday, Oct. 19.
Officer Thomas Bartunek, of the Waldoboro Police Department, said the accident occurred when a vehicle going north on Route 1 was attempting to turn left onto Route 235 (Union Road).
According to Officer Larry Hesseltine, Dorothy Freeman, 63, of Brooks, was driving a Subaru north on Route 1 and was attempting to turn left onto Route 235 (Union Road). Julie Soucy, 36, of Appleton, was driving a Mercury behind Freeman and rear-ended Freeman, forcing the Freeman vehicle into the southbound lane. Hesseltine said Soucy and a 9-year-old passenger in her vehicle were transported to the hospital.
Hesseltine said he was unsure of the extent or nature of their injuries.
Bartunek said he believed both patients were taken to Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport.
Traffic, particularly in the northbound lane of Route 1, was backed up approximately half a mile during the emergency response.
