Three vehicles traveling on Rt. 1 were involved in an accident near Snead Spur in Newcastle on Oct. 19, according to Lincoln County Sheriff’s Lt. Rand Maker.
Maker, the responding officer to the accident, said that Daniel Hoffman, 26, of Damariscotta, was traveling southbound on Rt. 1 in a 2012 Nissan Maxima when he stopped while waiting to turn onto the Snead Spur.
Kyle Spear, 21, of Nobleboro, was driving southbound on Rt. 1 in a 2009 Dodge box truck and failed to observe Hoffman’s stop, Maker said.
Spear’s truck struck the back of Hoffman’s vehicle, causing it to enter the northbound lane and strike a 2009 Dodge van operated by David Rudolph, 80, of Thomaston.
The accident was reported at 8:47 a.m. and there were no injuries, Maker said.
