Three people were injured in a rear-end accident on Route 1 in Waldoboro the morning of June 27, according to Waldoboro Police Officer Jeff Fuller.
According to Fuller, a red Chevrolet Equinox sport utility vehicle was southbound on Route 1 and was making a left turn into Wink’s Auto Service.
The operator of a southbound silver Chrysler Town & Country minivan failed to see the Equinox slowing and struck it in the rear, pushing the SUV down over the embankment in front of the auto repair, Fuller said.
Geraldine Day, 63, of Cushing, was operating the minivan and Lynda Pinkham, 48, of Waldoboro, was operating the SUV, according to the Waldoboro Police Department.
Two passengers in the van, Iris Day, 88, and Candace Day, 8, were taken to LincolnHealth – Miles Campus in Damariscotta, where they were treated and released, according to spokesperson Scott Shott.
Pinkham was transported to Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport, according to Waldoboro EMS Director Richard Lash.
A call to Pen Bay for Pinkham’s status was not returned by this posting, but Fuller said at the scene Pinkham’s injuries were minor.
Waldoboro Fire Department provided traffic control at the scene, and for the most part two lanes of traffic remained open.
