A three-vehicle collision in Edgecomb Sunday morning closed Rt. 1 for more than an hour while emergency responders cleared the scene.
According to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred around 11:55 a.m. when a southbound 1992 Volkswagen Golf, operated by Margaret Finch, 68, of New York City collided with a green 2008 Mercury sedan operated by Jane Price, 63, of Newcastle.
Finch did not see the Price vehicle, which was stopped in the southbound lane, waiting to make a left turn onto Eddy Road.
The collision forced the Price vehicle into the northbound travel lane and into the path of a Jeep operated by Matthew Robinson, 20, of Searsport. Robinson’s Jeep rolled one and a half times before coming to rest on its roof in the northbound travel lane.
All three drivers and a passenger in the Robinson vehicle were transported from the scene by ambulance for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Neither speed or alcohol is considered a factor and no charges are being contemplated.
The crash is being investigated by Sgt. Jason Nein who was assisted by Lt. Michael Murphy.
Units from the Wiscasset Fire and Rescue, Wiscasset Ambulance, Edgecomb Fire, and Boothbay Region Ambulance Service responded as well.
Rt. 1 was closed to traffic for one hour and 15 minutes.
