Lincoln County internet users should see little change, after the June 13 sale of Midcoast Internet Solutions (MIS) to GWI. While most MIS customers in Knox County will now receive service from GWI, those in Lincoln County were not transferred to the latter company.
Tidewater Telecom President Shirley Manning said Aug. 15 that internet service for those with Tidewater and Lincolnville Telephone Company accounts are being taken over by her company. She said customers should see minor changes in their service.
“They will have access to higher speeds and they will also be able to bundle with telephone service because these are our telephone customers anyway,” Manning said.
“We’ve already closed on the deal,” she said. “All the customers are transferred to our billing system. They’re receiving our service now.”
Manning said the transition was straightforward, because Tidewater was already providing infrastructure to MIS before the sale.
As for new customers, Manning said Tidewater is happy to have them, “and we know they’ll be happy with our service.”
