Firefighters from several area departments are currently working to contain a brush fire near 437 Bunker Hill Rd. in Jefferson. According to LCN reporter Dominik Lobkowicz, traffic on Bunker Hill Road has been reduced to one lane.
Lobkowicz reports the fire is spread out over a wide area. “This is stretching hundreds of yards into the woods off (Route) 213,” he said. “These guys are fighting the fire with Indian tanks. They are having to find a nearby pool of water to fill their tank from or walk back down the hill to fill their tank.”
“It not a huge fire,” he said. “It is burning leaves on the ground and things. It is slowly creeping outward as it consumes more and more and more. There is still plenty left to do.”
