In light of the crowds expected to participate in the 58th Annual Olde Bristol Days celebration in Pemaquid this weekend, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is encouraging motorists to plan ahead.
According to event organizers, roadside parking in the area is going to be limited throughout the weekend and travel on the Huddle and Snowball Hill Roads will be restricted to one way travel between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sat.-Sun., Aug. 14-15.
The limited direction travel on Huddle and Snowball Hill Roads may be extended even later on Sat., Aug. 14 in light of the fireworks scheduled to begin around 9 p.m. at Pemaquid Beach.
Parking at the Fort House and on Colonial Pemaquid grounds is reserved for handicapped use, customers of the Contented Sole restaurant, and those launching boats from the boat launch area. Parking space in the Pemaquid Beach parking lot is liable to be at a premium as well, according to LCSO Lt. Rand Maker.
To help alleviate traffic concerns, Olde Bristol Days organizers have arranged for three shuttles to transport passengers from the Bristol Consolidated School parking lot to the Colonial Pemaquid grounds Saturday and Sunday.
“Our number one suggestion is to use the shuttle from the Bristol school,” Maker said. “They are going to have three buses running all day long.”
Additionally, the Olde Bristol Days parade is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Saturday. The parade route follows Rt. 130 through New Harbor, down Snowball Hill Road to Colonial Pemaquid. Immediately surrounding the parade time, vehicle traffic in the area will likely be held to a standstill, Maker said.
