Sen. David Trahan said in a telephone interview on Aug. 9 that he received the executive director position at the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine (SAM).
Leadership at SAM voted unanimously on Aug. 8 to give Trahan the position, the senator said. “I’m excited to get to work and they said they’re quite happy to have me,” he said.
With his position at SAM official, Trahan will now solidify the resignation schedule he announced Aug. 3.
Trahan will begin work at SAM Oct. 3. At that time, he will resign from the legislature’s Inland Fisheries & Wildlife Committee. Trahan will remain in the senate and maintain his position as chair of the taxation committee, which he said is scheduled to meet five times this fall.
“I’ll remain as a senator to fix our tax code, and that’ll probably run until early to mid-December,” Trahan said. “Once the taxation issue is fixed, I’ll resign my seat as senator.”
Although a special legislative session is anticipated for September, Trahan said he will resign before the next regular legislative session begins in January.
