New Wiscasset Police Chief Troy Cline, formally of the Hooksett Police Dept. in Hooksett, N. H., was ceremonially sworn in at the opening of the Wiscasset Board of Selectmen’s regular meeting Sept. 6.
Wiscasset Town Clerk Christine Wolfe presided over the swearing in ceremony.
Cline’s parents, Mike and Sharon Cline, and his son, Dominic, attended the ceremony accompanied by officers from the Wiscasset Police Dept. members from several Lincoln County departments and officials from the Hooksett Police Dept., Clines former employer.
Cline was pinned with his chief’s badge by his father shortly after Sgt. Kathy Williams of the Wiscasset Police Department read the police code of ethics.
The new chief assumed his duties Aug. 29. He was first named Wiscasset police chief at the Board of Selectmen’s regular meeting Aug. 16.
“It was his command presence, technical knowledge, commitment and vision for the citizens of Wiscasset that swayed the selection committee,” Wiscasset Town Manager Laurie Smith said at the Aug. 16 meeting.
The selection process included meetings with two panels and a final interview.
The panels consisted of citizens, including business owners, school representatives and town officials. Nine of 12 representatives on the first panel chose Cline as their top choice.
