A bicyclist suffered a broken ankle when a pickup truck hit her on Route 32 in Round Pond the morning of Tuesday, April 7.
Jaja Martin, 59, of Bremen, was riding a bicycle north on Route 32, according to Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Detective Sgt. Ron Rollins. Eric L. Newell, 38, of Calais, driving a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado, struck her from behind.
Lincoln County Communications dispatched the Bristol Fire Department, Bristol First Responders, and Central Lincoln County Ambulance Service to the area of 1404 State Route 32 at 7:11 a.m.
Martin was taken to LincolnHealth’s Miles Campus, in Damariscotta, for treatment of the broken ankle and other “bumps and bruises,” according to Rollins.
Rollins said no charges would be filed. He said the scene, not far from King Ro Market, was clear in about 45 minutes. The fire department closed the road for about 15 minutes during the response.
