Wiscasset town officials gathered to welcome the opening of Trucks by Norm, an expansion of Norm’s Used Cars in Wiscasset with a ribbon cutting ceremony Monday afternoon.
Considering the success of his existing business, Norm’s Used Cars, business owner Norman Sherman said he considers this an ideal time and place to expand into truck sales.
“I have lived in Wiscasset all my live, and it is a pleasure for me to expand my business here,” Sherman said after the ribbon cutting. He credited the help of the town officials and cited the friendly, pleasurable atmosphere of working with the town in launch his new venture.
“The town planner, Misty Parker, has been a tremendous help with this project,” Sherman said.
Sherman purchased the property at 646 Bath Rd, Wiscasset, in 2012. The building formally housed Tony’s Pizza, until it was destroyed by a fire in 2011. The vacant building has been expanded, updated, and the property rejuvenated. Sherman is excited for the new opportunity and has hired four new employees to work at Trucks by Norm.
Sherman spoke about the site being a perfect location for the sale of trucks. He pointed out large trucks deliver goods to the businesses near by. “Those truck drivers do not drive cars when they go home, they drive trucks, and those trucks will be right here for them to see,” he said.
Apparently the truck sale business is good. Sherman said he purchased 65 trucks when he knew he would be opening the new business, and he has already sold half of that inventory.
Trucks by Norm opened for the first time Aug. 5. The business hours will be Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday the hours will be 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. The business will be closed on Sundays.
Norm’s Used Cars, also located on Route 1 in Wiscasset, has been part of the town’s landscape for the past 36 years and has expanded several times over the years. For more information call 1-866-224-9515 or visit online, http://www.normsusedcars.com.
