Local businesses, Damariscotta Region Chamber of Commerce members, Damariscotta-Newcastle Rotary Club members, the Renys Rockets, Lincoln Academy’s choir, and Santa Claus turned out to help celebrate Damariscotta’s 10th annual Wrap It Up festival.
The Twin Villages Alliance organizes the annual street festival, which it founded to not only support shopping local, but also to bring the community together to celebrate the holiday season, said board Chair Mary Kate Reny.
“This is to celebrate the community and the season,” Reny said.
King Eider’s Pub greeted shoppers on the street with hot chocolate, the Damariscotta River Grill made maple syrup toffee and handed out Rick’s Famous Eggnog, a recipe only available once a year, and Santa helped wrap presents.
Children gathered at Waltz Soda Fountain to decorate cookies, some of which will be put out for Santa Claus.
Damariscotta Region Chamber of Commerce members had their Beat the Winter Blahs coupon books for sale and the Rotary Club was selling candy and nuts with all proceeds going to area food pantries.
The Renys Rockets took their routine on a tour of area businesses and the Lincoln Academy choir spread holiday cheer by serenading shoppers with Christmas carols.
