Two back-to-back accidents clogged up traffic around the intersection of Rts. 1 and 27 in Edgecomb Jan. 9.
At 4:10 p.m., Anatolij Duchanin, 65, of Waldoboro was operating a 2000 maroon Plymouth Voyager northbound on Rt. 1 when Tammy Kane, 47, of Boothbay struck his vehicle with her 1990 GMC pickup truck.
According to Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Rand Maker, Kane was turning onto Rt. 1 from Rt. 27 when she failed to yield to oncoming traffic and struck Duchanin’s vehicle.
Kane was treated by Wiscasset EMS to after complaining of back pain. Members of the Edgecomb Fire Dept. responded to the scene.
While emergency service workers responded to the accident, a second collision occurred 150 feet up the road.
At 5 p.m., according to Maker, a 1993 Dodge, operated by Cheryl Strohmeier, 52, of Damariscotta, was slowing down at the accident scene when Herbert Geroux, 76, of Woolwich, struck Strohmeier from behind in a 2009 Volkswagen.
While the Strohmeier’s Dodge received minor damage, Geroux’s Volkswagen was ultimately towed.
Strohmeier complained of neck pains. Geroux reported no injuries, Maker said.
