A Lincoln County Grand Jury indicted two Bristol residents last week and charged them with stealing a truck – with the family dog inside – from a gas station in Waldoboro this June.
Appolonia Michaud, 25, and Jason Hunter, 27, were arrested separately in late June and early July, respectively. Michaud has been charged with theft, unauthorized use of property, violating conditions of release and operating while her license was under suspension. Hunter has been charged with theft and unauthorized use of property.
Police believe they took the truck from the parking lot while the owner was in the store. The dog, George, an American bulldog, was found in Bath several days later; at that time it was reported that he is fine and has been returned to his family.
The truck was found in Massachusetts, and has also been returned. “They got their dog back, they got their truck back, and the only thing wrong with the truck was that it had run out of gas,” said Waldoboro Police Chief Bill Labombarde at the time of Hunter’s arrest.
