A 20-year-old Massachusetts man is facing charges after an early morning traffic accident, resulted in some damage to the Wiscasset Post Office.
According to a Wiscasset Police Dept. press release, Jean Paul Doiron, 20, was charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, driving to endanger, and failure to stop at a stop sign, following the crash on June 3 at 6:30 a.m. on Main Street, Wiscasset.
According to police, Doiron was driving south on Federal Street towards Main Street in a Ford F-350 truck when he went through the stop sign on Federal Street and struck a four-door vehicle westbound on Main Street, operated by Cynthia Fales, 59, of Damariscotta.
The impact caused Fales’ vehicle to spin around in its lane. The vehicle appears to be totaled, police report.
Doiron’s truck continued on and struck the Wiscasset Post Office causing damage to the structure. Fales sustained injuries to her wrist and knee.
Wiscasset Fire and Ambulance personnel arrived shortly afterward. Both operators were checked by Wiscasset EMS personnel. Doiron was checked and refused treatment, and left the scene without speaking to Police Officer Gary Caron.
Fales was subsequently transported to Miles Hospital.
According to the police report, when being interviewed about the crash, Doiron admitted to having consumed beer the previous evening.
