Two Wiscasset men, Cory Hodgdon, 18, of Wiscasset and a 17-year-old male juvenile, were charged with two counts of criminal use of explosives, a Class C crime, and two counts of reckless conduct, a class D crime.
According to a press release from Wiscasset Chief of Police Troy Cline, the arrests are in connection with the nighttime, April 9 mailbox bombings.
According to Cline, two homemade devices made with some cleaner and other liquids caused a chemical explosion, severely damaging but not completely destroying the mailboxes of Wiscasset Selectman Ed Polewarczyk and Cheryl Campbell.
Cline and Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office Investigator Ken MacMaster conducted additional investigations into bombings and announced the arrests June 12.
