Two Bristol residents sustained serious leg injuries in a head-on collision on Rt. 32 in Bristol Dec. 13.
According to a preliminary report from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Nancy Hanna, 41, was traveling southbound when she was stuck head on by a northbound 2002 Subaru operated by Lawrence Holmes, 52, around 5 p.m.
According to LCSO Major Ken Mason, a witness said he was traveling north ahead of Holmes. According to the witness, as he slowed to turn into a driveway, Holmes attempted to pass him, moving into the southbound lane where Holmes collided with Hanna, Mason said.
The crash occurred north of Round Pond, near Coggins Road. The scene of the crash is on a slight downward curve, marked by a double yellow line, Mason said.
Hanna’s 2005 Dodge Neon and Holmes’s 2002 Subaru were both totaled in the collision.
Both operators sustained serious injuries to their left legs. Both were subsequently transported to Maine Medical Center where they remain at press time.
Blood samples were taken from both operators. The investigation remains ongoing at press time, Mason said.
Route 32 was closed for more than hour while Bristol Fire and Rescue units cleared the scene.
