The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office has charged two inmates at the Two Bridges Regional Jail with trafficking in prison contraband following an investigation into an alleged assault which took place at the Wiscasset facility the weekend of Aug. 4.
According to a Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office press release, Tyler McFarland, 32, of Gray, was charged with assault after an altercation with another inmate. The other inmate received cuts on his face and the top of his head. These injuries did not require hospitalization.
According to the LCSO, further investigation indicated McFarland and a third inmate, Mark Johnson, 31, of Bath were allegedly smuggling the narcotic suboxone into the jail. The two men were allegedly bartering and selling the suboxone to other inmates in the cellblock.
The alleged assault was not connected to the smuggling operation.
Both McFarland and Johnson have been charged with trafficking in prison contraband, Class C.
The investigation is ongoing and further charges may be forthcoming.
