Two Lincoln County patrol vehicles were involved in recent accidents.
On Feb. 20, Maine State Police Sgt. Jeffrey A. Mills responded to an accident in Randolph between a Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office police cruiser and another vehicle.
Officer Henry Grenier, driving a 2007 Ford patrol car, was traveling northbound on Rt. 27 in Randolph, when a vehicle traveling too fast for the conditions, failed to stop at a stop sign and struck the cruiser.
Kristen M. King, 27, of Augusta, was driving her 1999 white Pontiac when she struck the police cruiser. She sustained an estimated $5000 damage to her vehicle.
The police cruiser sustained an estimated $2500 damage.
In a second incident, Lincoln County’s Sheriff Sgt. Jason Nein, traveling northbound on Rt. 27 in Boothbay, encountered a sanding plow truck, backing onto Rt. 27. In an evasive move, Sgt. Nein sought to avoid the truck, collided with it, damaging the front passenger panel on the 2005 Crown Victoria patrol vehicle.
The damage to the truck was minimal, to the bumper only, with the patrol car sustaining the brunt of the damage.
There was no complaint of injury, and no information regarding damage estimates.
A summons was issued to the driver of the truck, Joshua Goodwin, 30, of Boothbay, for failure to yield right of way.
