Both a man operating a motorcycle and his female passenger were sent to the hospital for injuries when the bike crashed in Edgecomb the afternoon of Aug. 1, according to Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy Richard Woodward.
A northbound vehicle braked hard to make a left turn into Sawyer’s Way, causing several vehicles – including the motorcycle – to need to brake quickly, Woodward said.
“This guy was a little late and was thrown from the motorcycle along with his passenger,” he said. Names of the man and woman were not immediately available.
Both were transported to Miles Memorial Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, Woodward said. Neither person was wearing helmets at the time of the accident, according to Edgecomb Fire Chief Roy Potter.
The accident occurred at around 12:50 p.m. and traffic was down to one lane until about 1:20 p.m.
