U.S. Senate candidate Shenna Bellows visited Damariscotta today, meeting with supporters at Skidompha Public Library as part of a five-day tour of Maine’s 16 counties.
She also planned to visit Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences and the Washburn & Doughty Associates Inc. shipyard in Boothbay.
The Manchester Democrat is the only challenger to enter the race against incumbent Sen. Susan Collins, who remains widely popular after three terms in the Senate.
Bellows was the executive director of the American Civil Liberties of Union of Maine for eight years prior to entering the race.
A native of Hancock, she has ties to Lincoln County through her grandparents, who own a home on Damariscotta Lake in Nobleboro.
