Following a wind and rain storm that battered Lincoln County on Wednesday, Central Maine Power Co. had restored power to all Lincoln County households just in time for Thanksgiving — all except for one.
Located on coastal Pine Cliff Rd. in Southport, the single residence was the only one without power according to the 10:19 a.m. update on the CMP website. It is unknown if the residence was occupied. There are 24 other households on the same road, all had power restored, according to CMP.
Pine Cliff Rd. is located just off Cape Newagen Rd. (Rt. 238) in Southport east of the Southport Water Supply Pond. Mouse Island lies directly offshore. A view of the neighborhood from satellite on Google Earth shows all of the residences in the area abut Pine Cliff Rd., except for one with a very long driveway. This would logically have been the affected residence as it probably relies on a single power line coming in from Pine Cliff Rd.
Fortunately, another check of the CMP website later in the day indicated power had been restored to the home – hopefully in time to cook up a great dinner and give thanks for hard working CMP crews.
A total of 1695 Lincoln County households were without power at about 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday as high winds and heavy rainfall hit the area, according to CMP.
That number put Lincoln County in the unenviable position of sustaining the highest number of power outages in the state for the day, well ahead of Cumberland County with 409, according to CMP.
By noon on Wednesday power had been restored to all but 248 Lincoln County homes, according to CMP. Most of the affected homes on Wednesday were in the Bristol area, according to CMP.
The storm tapered off Wednesday night, leaving clear skies and high temps in the low 30’s for Thanksgiving Day in Lincoln County.
