Waldoboro Police have identified 28-year-old Blaire Horton of Friendship as the victim of a one-car collision on the Friendship Road in Waldoboro Sunday afternoon.
According to the Waldoboro Police Dept., Horton was the only occupant in her blue 1997 Jeep Cherokee when it struck a tree around 3:55 p.m.
According to police, Horton was traveling south on the Friendship Road when she apparently swerved to the left due to a vehicle backing up in a driveway. Horton crossed over into the oncoming lane and overcorrected before crashing into a tree.
Horton was extracted from the vehicle by Waldoboro firefighters. She was transported to Miles Memorial Hospital by Waldoboro EMS and later succumbed to her injuries.
The accident is currently under investigation by Officer Jeff Fuller of the Waldoboro Police Dept. Deputy Chad Gilbert of the Lincoln County Sheriffs Dept. is conducting the accident reconstruction. Friendship Fire Dept. also assisted at the scene with traffic control.
