Students were evacuated at Medomak Valley High School following the discovery of a bomb threat at the school on Manktown Road shortly after noon on Friday. According to Waldoboro Police School Resource Officer Tom Hoepner, the threat was delivered in the form of a note, which was discovered on a table.
The threat was time specific and the time specified had passed, Hoepner said.
RSU/MSAD 40 Superintendent Susan Pratt reportedly made the decision to evacuate the school. Students were removed to the neighboring Medomak Middle School.
Firefighters at the scene directed parents who arrived to pick up their children. Hoepner said school officials would take attendance to ensure all students were accounted for before those with their own cars were allowed to leave the campus.
Middle school students and those high school students who did not otherwise have a ride were transported home by school buses.
Waldoboro and Warren firefighters assisted State and Waldoboro Police at the scene.
