The driver killed in a single vehicle accident in Alna on Nov. 8 has been identified as Steven Parlin, 27, of Jefferson.
Parlin was traveling east on Dock Road at a high rate of speed in a black 1995 Ford Ranger pickup truck. Parlin’s vehicle crossed into the west-bound travel lane and he lost control of the vehicle, according to a press release issued by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
The vehicle then re-entered the east-bound travel lane where it struck a guard rail and tree before falling several feet into the Sheepscot River.
A member of the Alna Fire Department was assisted by Deputy Kenneth Hatch in removing Parlin from his vehicle, however Parlin was deceased upon their arrival.
Members of the Alna Fire Department, Wiscasset Fire & Rescue and Wiscasset Ambulance Service responded to the scene.
Hatch conducted the primary investigation of the accident, assisted by Major Ken Mason and Deputy Kevin Dennison.
A reconstruction of the crash is being conducted by Crash Reconstruction Specialist Sgt. Jason Nein. A forensic mapping of the crash site was conducted by Sgt. Ronald Rollins and Detective Terry Michaud.
According to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Parlin was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and a blood sample will be taken by the Medical Examiner’s Office. This crash remains under investigation.
