A Chevrolet sport-utility vehicle ended up on its side Aug. 7 after crossing the oncoming lane of Route 17 in Whitefield and traveling several hundred feet along the ditch, according to Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy Ken Hatch.
Wayne Thomas, 60, of Searsport, was operating the vehicle eastbound on Route 17 when it crossed the oncoming lane and entered the ditch for unknown reasons, Hatch said.
Thomas refused any medical treatment at the scene, according to Hatch.
Emergency responders were paged out to the accident, a little more than half a mile with the road’s intersection with Route 218, shortly before 3 p.m. Whitefield Fire Department and Jefferson Fire & Rescue responded to the scene.
Thomas was not issued a summons related to the accident, Hatch said.
