A woman drove her vehicle into the entryway of the Bristol town office early Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 6.
Rita Blanc, 34, of Bristol, was operating a 2007 Ford Taurus with a juvenile passenger in the front seat, according to Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office personnel.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy Kevin Dennison said the vehicle was traveling south on Route 130 when Blanc swerved to avoid a vehicle backing out of the diner parking lot across the street.
The vehicle struck a metal post and a sign before striking the entryway of the building.
Both Blanc and the juvenile were wearing their seat belts at the time of the accident. According to LCSO personnel, Blanc complained of back pain and the passenger complained of neck pain.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Bristol Fire and Rescue and the Central Lincoln County Ambulance Service.
Dennison said the accident is under investigation.
This is the second time the Bristol town office has been hit by a vehicle this year. In May, a woman struck the front corner of the town hall and a nearby veterans monument.
The town office closed for the remainder of Tuesday and will remain closed Wednesday, Oct. 7, according to Bristol Town Administrator Kris Poland.
The Bristol Board of Selectmen will still have its regular meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Those planning on attending should use the door on the side of the building.
