The KeepMEwarm program through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is seeking volunteers to learn how to weatherize homes, Jefferson selectmen said during their regular Monday night meeting.
Administered through the federally subsidized MaineHousing program, towns also have sought volunteers to assist in the application process. According to a press release, MaineHousing received $30 million in federal funding in October for LIHEAP, which provides fuel assistance to families who qualify.
The KeepMEWarm program volunteers winterize homes for those families who qualify for LIHEAP assistance. Selectmen said the program offers training in different locations around the state.
In other business, the Damariscotta Lake Farm restaurant, which has yet to open, seeks a liquor license from the town. Selectmen said this request requires a public hearing.
The public hearing set forth to discuss the liquor license is scheduled for the next Board of Selectmen meeting at the town office on Dec. 7, at 7 p.m.
