All articles and a question passed, ballot counters discovered after completing the municipal end of Election Day results on Nov. 6. Special Town Meeting Warrant Articles two through five all passed.
Article two, which asked if the town should accept ownership of the former A.D. Gray Middle School and property from M.S.A.D. 40, passed with 1894 ‘yes’ votes and 754 ‘no’ votes.
The town voted to appropriate $30,000 from the undesignated fund balance to maintain the former A.D. Gray property with 1547 ‘yes’ votes and 1086 ‘no’ votes.
Voters also chose to authorize the Waldoboro Board of Selectmen to purchase the property formally used by A.D. Gray Middle School as a library, located at 19 Philbrook Lane. There were 1306 ‘yes’ votes and 1281 ‘no’ votes.
Article five, which asked whether the town should submit all warrant articles to be voted on in the form of secret referendum ballot questions and keep the polls open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., passed with 1919 ‘yes’ votes and 717 ‘no’ votes.
A question on the ballot asked voters if the school board of directors should be authorized to borrow funds not to exceed $665,250 for heating upgrades at Medomak Valley High School. The Dept. of Education has promised to forgive 51.13 percent of the loan. The District would be responsible for paying back 48.87 percent. At $665,250, the District would be responsible for repaying up to $325,107.68. There were 1810 ‘yes’ votes and 859 ‘no’ votes.
