The owner of the Waldoboro business Hoffman Collectibles was arrested at his Spruce Head home Aug. 26 for possession of bath salts and violating a condition of release.
Maine Drug Enforcement Agents searched the home of Herman “Rusty” Hoffman, 40, that afternoon.
Agents found bath salts, packaging material, and hypodermic needles, MDEA regional supervisor James Pease told the Bangor Daily News.
Hoffman was out on bail after he and his brother, Michael Hoffman, 38, were both arrested July 3 and charged with aggravated trafficking in schedule W drugs (bath salts).
In July, drug agents seized 301 capsules of bath salts, three handguns stored with the drugs, approximately $25,000 in alleged drug proceeds, seven Maine EBT cards, and other items from Herman Hoffman’s home, according to an MDEA press release.
The same day, drug agents seized 199 capsules of bath salts, approximately $1,500 in alleged drug proceeds, and other items at Hoffman Collectibles, according to the release.
Herman Hoffman also made headlines recently when he shared plans to move his business from Waldoboro to Damariscotta, prompting the town to start a moratorium process banning adult entertainment establishments.
