Waldoboro citizens are awaiting the results of the town’s annual budget vote after winners were announced in a highly contested race for three selectmen’s seats and several other contests for public office.
Elected for two, three-year, terms were incumbent Theodore Wooster, with 409 votes, and Carl Cunningham, with 368 votes. Also running for those seats were Ronald Miller (361), Susan Price (306), John Heller (197), Stephen Nutter (187), and Melvin Williams (89).
James Bodman was elected to a two-year term with 594 votes. Robert Kanewsle received 288 votes.
A two-year seat on the RSU/MSAD #40 school board will be filled by Darryl Goldrup, who won the race against Mary Controvillas, 444-313. Two three-year terms will be filled by incumbents Lynda Letteney, with 505 votes and Sandra O’Farrell with 332. Other candidates were Christopher Duffy (293), Deborah Tillou (271) and John Higgins, with 264 votes.
All three candidates for three-year terms on the town budget committee were elected to office. Those candidates are William Blodgett (769), Craig Lewis (679) and John Higgins (618).
Jeffrey McNelly was elected to serve as trustee to the Waldoboro Utility District with 804 votes. Write-in candidate Gordon Webster was also elected with 17 votes. David Starr Jr. received 14 write-in votes.
