Waldoboro has not received any proposals for use of the AD Gray building, so the Waldoboro Board of Selectmen voted Sept. 13 to extend the deadline to the end of the year.
The town put out a request for proposals on May 24. The building was offered for sale for $1, and the town hoped a proposal would be found to foster local economic growth and redevelop the building.
As of May 26, the town had received several inquiries regarding the property, said Planning and Development Director Misty Gorski at the time.
The original deadline, set last spring, was Sept. 1; town officials said they received no formal proposals.
The selectmen and Town Manger John Spear said they hope the extension to Dec. 31 will result in a proposal, but said it also gives the town time to explore alternatives.
Selectman Steve Cartwright said at the meeting that a serious developer has plans to tour the building later this month.
