The new Waldoboro House of Pizza opened its doors on March 30 to what co-owner Charlie Koutsikos described as a busy lunch rush for a restaurant’s first day.
Operating in the Route 1 building formerly occupied by the wine store McKean & Charles, the newly renovated restaurant seats 52 and offers pizzas, calzones, grinders
and subs, salads, and other items for eat-in or takeout.
Koutsikos most recently owned Athens Pizza in Dover-Foxcroft and has owned other restaurants around Maine in the past, he said previously. He and his wife, Besy,
co-own the Waldoboro restaurant, he said.
Waldoboro residents April Simmons and Andrea Robinson said they enjoyed their lunch of Hawaiian pizza, french fries, and mozzarella sticks on the restaurant’s
opening day.
“It was very good, fresh,” Robinson said. “I think this’ll be good for Waldoboro.”
Open seven days a week, the Waldoboro House of Pizza will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
