A 41-year-old Waldoboro man was charged with attempted robbery after he allegedly approached the Camden National Bank in Waldoboro around noon March 7 while wearing dark clothing, sunglasses and a ski mask.
Carroll B. Demmons was taken into custody around 11:45 p.m. the same day after Waldoboro Police and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies executed a search warrant on his home at 756 Bremen Rd.
According to a statement from the Waldoboro Police Dept., around noon Wednesday a bank employee observed a man walk out of the woods into the parking lot, and run toward the rear of the bank. The man was wearing dark clothing, a ski mask, and sunglasses with a hood pulled up.
The employee alerted other bank staff and they immediately locked all the doors, preventing the man from entering the bank. They then called 911. There were no customers in the bank at the time. The man was later observed running back into woods.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies, Maine State Police, Marine Patrol and Maine Game Wardens also responded. The area was quickly secured and a police K-9 was used to search the area.
According to the Waldoboro police, police seized evidence during the search of Demmons’ home. He was arrested and transported to Two Bridges Regional Jail.
