A Waldoboro man was killed the evening of Dec. 12 after police say he failed to stop at a stop sign in Warren and his car was struck by another vehicle.
Arthur Emanuelson, 73, was operating a 2007 Nissan Versa eastbound on Old Augusta Road in Warren, according to a press release from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.
Emanuelson failed to stop at the road’s intersection with Ridge Road (Route 235), and his vehicle was struck in the driver’s door by a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado operated southbound by Edward Matson Jr., 39, of Waldoboro. “No charges are expected at this time,” according to the release.
There were no passengers in the vehicles, seat belts were used, and the airbags in the Nissan deployed, according to the release.
The sheriff’s office responded to the accident at approximately 5:36 p.m. Deputies Matt Elwell and Nate Jack are investigating the accident, and Rockland Police Sgt. Ken Smith is performing a reconstruction, according to the release.
Warren Fire and Rescue and Waldoboro EMS also responded to the scene.
Emanuelson was a participant in the Knox County Yellow Dot program, which, through a yellow dot placed on the vehicle’s rear window, alerts emergency responders of medical information stored in the vehicle’s glove box.
Emanuelson’s information was beneficial in assisting in the investigation and in identification, according to the release.
