The Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit arrested a 35-year-old Waldoboro man on Thursday, Jan. 14 after allegedly finding “hundreds of photos and videos of child pornography” on his computer.
Joel Harkins has been charged with possessing sexually explicit materials of someone under the age of 12, according to a press release from Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland.
“An initial review of his computer shows hundreds of photos and videos of child pornography,” according to the press release. “That computer will now be analyzed by technicians at the computer crimes unit.”
He was taken to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset, where he was expected to be released on bail. He will make his first court appearance at the Lincoln County Courthouse Feb. 25.
