A Waldoboro man was indicted March 10 after allegedly forcibly subjecting a 14-year-old girl to sexual contact in January, according to court documents.
John A. Field, 58, of Waldoboro, is charged with a single class B count of unlawful sexual contact.
The girl had gone over to Field’s house at his request to clean the morning the sexual contact allegedly occurred, according to an affidavit by Lincoln County Sheriff’s Detective Terry Michaud.
Field denied the allegations, according to the affidavit.
Philip Cohen, Field’s attorney, said Field will plead not guilty at his arraignment, which is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on April 13 in Lincoln County Superior Court.
Field was arrested Jan. 10 and, according to jail personnel, remained in custody at Two Bridges Regional Jail as of March 19 in lieu of $25,000 bail.
“We’re going to address bail, and in all likelihood ask the court to lower that,” Cohen said.
If convicted of the charge against him, Field could face up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine, according to the Maine Criminal Code.
