A Waldoboro man is facing a litany of charges including gross sexual assault and other alleged sex crimes against a man, a woman, and a juvenile male under 12 years old after he was indicted by grand jury Dec. 3.
John D. Wyman, 44, was indicted on charges of gross sexual assault, class B, against another man on or about Sept. 23; unlawful sexual contact, class B, with a juvenile male under 12 on or about Aug. 16; and attempted gross sexual assault, class B, unlawful sexual contact, class C, unlawful sexual touching, class D, and burglary, class B, against a woman on or about Aug. 16.
According to an affidavit by Waldoboro Police Officer Larry Hesseltine, the gross sexual assault allegedly occurred at Wyman’s home on Friendship Road, against another man Wyman had been drinking with.
Wyman allegedly told the man previously he was an Alcoholics Anonymous sponsor and to call him if the man ever needed to talk or help with his drinking, Hesseltine wrote.
The man said he must have blacked out that night because he came to and allegedly found Wyman attempting the assault, according to the affidavit.
The attempted gross sexual assault against the woman allegedly occurred in her own home on Friendship Road.
The woman told Hesseltine “Wyman came into her residence and bedroom unannounced and unwelcome” and allegedly tried to force her to have sex with him, Hesseltine wrote.
The woman told Hesseltine she sleeps with a baseball bat due to Wyman’s alleged actions, according to the affidavit.
Wyman was arrested by Hesseltine and Chief of Police Bill Labombarde Oct. 2. Originally held on $15,000 cash bail, Wyman is now being held on $10,000 cash bail and remained in custody at Two Bridges Regional Jail as of Dec. 9, according to jail personnel.
Wyman is due to be arraigned in Lincoln County Superior Court on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015 at 8:30 a.m.
A message left for Wyman’s attorney, James Lawley, was not returned by press time.
