A Waldoboro man handily won the April #LCNme365 photo contest with 74.7% of the votes cast for his photo of Round Pond Harbor at sunrise.
Jan Griesenbrock snapped the photo using his Canon SX60 early one morning.
“Usually you have to get down there at 4:30 or 5 in the morning to get the sunrise, and for me it’s about a 20-minute trip to get down there,” Griesenbrock said. “The folks down there have been really nice about me being down there with my camera so early!”
Griesenbrock said Round Pond Harbor always produces amazing photos, but the angle of the harbor, the placement of the boats, and the sun’s location made this one special.
A subscriber to The Lincoln County News, Griesenbrock regularly follows the #LCNme365 photo contest and has won several weekly contests. This is the first time he’s won a monthly contest.
“I really do understand when I haven’t won in the past. There are a lot of good shooters out there and many talented photographers in the area, so I feel really excited that I won with this one,” Griesenbrock said.
In addition to having his photo featured on the front page of The Lincoln County News, Griesenbrock will receive a $50 gift certificate to Newcastle Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram Viper, the sponsor of the April contest.
As the fourth monthly winner, Griesenbrock cannot win another weekly or monthly contest in 2019, but he can still submit photos for inclusion in the weekly slideshow of entries at lcnme.com.
Griesenbrock’s photo will compete against the other 11 monthly winners at the end of the year as voters select the winner for 2019.
Submissions are now being accepted for the May #LCNme365 contest. The winner will receive a $50 gift certificate from the monthly sponsor, Metcalf’s. For full rules and means of entry, go to lcnme.com/photo-contest.
