Aug. 28, Officer Larry Hesseltine is investigating a report of a computer scam. A female subject called a local resident claiming to be from Microsoft, and with the resident’s permission took over his computer and then asked for $800 to fix the computer.

Aug. 25, around 10:25 p.m., a 15-year-old male was driving a 2009 Dodge sedan south on the Washington Road at a high rate of speed. The juvenile operator later stated he was going 120 mph, when he lost control and went off the left side of the roadway, striking stumps and a rock, which caused the vehicle to go airborne before hitting a utility pole and snapping it in half. The vehicle rolled over and came back onto its wheels before hitting a large stump and coming to rest. Possible charges are pending. The operator was not injured. Officer Hesseltine investigated.
Aug. 31, around 8:31 p.m., Bruce Nichols, 48, of Waldoboro, was driving a 1998 Toyota utility vehicle south on the Orff’s Corner Road when he lost control of the vehicle while rounding a corner, crossed the center line, left roadway and struck some trees in a yard on Flanders Corner Road. No injuries. Officer Bartunek investigated.
Sept. 2, Mark Zaccadelli, II, 20, of Bristol, was driving a 1998 Chevrolet pickup truck south on the Friendship Road around 5:11 p.m. when he lost control of his vehicle while passing another vehicle. Zaccadelli crossed the center line and struck a utility pole. Officer Bartunek investigated.
Sept. 5, driving a 2000 Plymouth van around 3:24 p.m., Michelle Mackenzie, 42, of Waldoboro, attempted to make a U-turn near the apex of a hill on the Atlantic Highway. As she crossed the roadway, failing to yield the right of way, she was struck by a 2008 International cargo van operated by Adam Brackett, 20, of Union. Mackenzie and two passengers in her vehicle sustained injuries. Officer Fuller investigated.
