Waldoboro Police are asking for the public’s assistance in catching the person or persons responsible for a vandalism spree during the overnight hours of July 14-15. The damage includes three police vehicles parked behind the Waldoboro municipal building on Atlantic Highway (Route 1).
According to a press release from the Waldoboro Police Department, sometime between the hours of 9 p.m. and midnight Tuesday, July 14, someone slashed the tires on two Waldoboro Police vehicles and a third vehicle owned by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.
The following morning, police received another 10 complaints of slashed tires in the areas of Main and School streets. The total number of tires reported damaged is 32, Waldoboro Police report.
Criminal mischief is a class D misdemeanor, but criminal mischief to an emergency response vehicle elevates the crime to aggravated criminal mischief, a class C felony.
Waldoboro police are investigating several leads and seeking the public’s assistance. Anyone with any information, or who may have seen anything suspicious, is urged to contact the Waldoboro Police Department at 832-4500.
